The Icky Sticky Spider
Some have insinuated that the only reason anyone would be fond of the original Spider-Woman series was because of all the times the heroine found herself tied up. That's unfair. In addition to the bondage, there was also bukkake:
The in-story explanation for this creepy cover is that a scientist who discovered he had a fatal skin condition (killer acne?) experimented on himself and ended up as Marvel's version of Clayface. He then decided he'd had enough of the stuffy scientist lifestyle and became a swingin' Lothario. Only he found he was unable to control his skin when he was with a woman too long and grew overly excited:
"I can't hold it, anymore!" How in the heck did this ever get approved by the Comics Code Authority?
And if you're thinking that this story only looks as bad as it does because it's in black-and-white, it's even more disturbing in color.
Poor Jessica Drew. Even before Bendis got a hold of you, you suffered at the hands of your creators.
