Some Advice Needed on Blogging

Normal blogging to resume tonight or tomorrow - as soon as I get home from work, I have to get to the mundane tasks of mowing the lawn and starting the laundry, and in the morning I'm headed to the library to start studying for my GRE exam in October - but at some point this weekend, I'd like to include some banner-type or button-type ads for some of the comics organizations like the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, Friends of Lulu, Prism Comics and some others. What do I need to do to get the pretty images up here? Do I link directly to these sites by putting up some special code, or do I need to get some kind of image storage solution and do the code longhand?
